New Guidelines supporting the delivery of services to homeless people
Homelessness NSW, Yfoundations and DV NSW have recently developed three new guidelines to support the delivery of services to people at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness:
Assertive outreach good practice guidelines for services supporting people currently rough sleeping
Good Practice Guidelines for the Domestic and Family Violence Sector in NSW
Good Practice Guidelines for working with Unaccompanied Children 12 – 15 years accessing Specialist Homelessness Services
Although the guidelines cover 3 different areas of practice, they share common practice principles, such as trauma informed care, services being culturally informed and person-centred in their practice. The guidelines also complement the FACS-produced SHS practice and program guidelines, referencing the four core responses of the SHS Service Delivery Framework, and have been approved by FACS.
The peak bodies would like to thank everybody who contributed to the guidelines, including Zed Tintor who was contracted to develop the assertive outreach guidelines. The peaks also wish to thank Kiera Tallon (Yfoundations), Emily Goldsmith (DV NSW) and Dougie Wells (Homelessness NSW) for their hard work in managing this project to its completion over the past 12 months.
