The Industry Partnership of the three homelessness peaks have now launched the Aboriginal Cultural Competency Standards Train the Trainer Project.

About: In August 2017, the Industry Partnership convened a sector wide forum on addressing Aboriginal homelessness which resulted in the development of a three-year strategy with actions to better address Aboriginal homelessness and support Aboriginal staff and clients. It was recognised that the delivery of these actions could be achieved through the implementation of the Community Housing for Aboriginal People (CHAP) 2016, Aboriginal Cultural Competency Standards.

The Industry Partnership Train the Trainer Project aligns strongly with the Redressing Aboriginal Homelessness Accord (developed by the Aboriginal Reference Group) and over the next two years this Project will aim to upskill and support Aboriginal SHS staff to deliver an overview of these Standards to their own SHS organisation and other SHS organisations in the sector. SHS will also have an opportunity to attend focussed and comprehensive training workshops on each individual CHAP standard to support their organisation to achieving integrated cultural competency.
